Talking about the autobiographical traits found in his songs, to the magazine Paper said: «For example, there’s this ex who I had the longest relationship with, for five years. We’re friends now, but I wrote this song that was 100% sincere. There’s a part where I say, ‘More than being part of a threesome, I’d like to have flowers.’ I understand that sometimes the other person may feel attacked because certain things need to remain private. But if I censored that story, I would lose the opportunity to connect with people.”
The singer has never gone further in telling his private story, especially from a love point of view, which is why this passage was so shared. That his reserve is part of his character was reiterated by the singer also during this interview. “My mom always tells me that when she listens to my music she discovers new things about me,” she revealed.
