Enormous success for the exhibition “The Great Masters of the Baroque and Caravaggio”, the exhibition which since December has brought masterpieces of Baroque painting to Mondovì Breo, in the former church of Santo Stefano. The exhibition should have closed on May 1st: but the over 8 thousand visits convinced the Municipality and the organizers to extend it. Piemonte Musei announces that the exhibition will remain open to visitors until Sunday 26 May. «It has confirmed itself as an event of great importance – say the organizers –, attracting not only art enthusiasts, but anyone interested in experiencing a cultural immersion in one of the most fervent periods in the history of art. This extension was decided in order to allow those who have not yet had the opportunity to visit the exhibition, or your interested acquaintances, to be able to take advantage of this cultural event.”
The exhibition offers a complete immersion in the Baroque allowing visitors to appreciate the canvases of artists who redefined the concept of beauty in the 17th century, with the opportunity to admire extraordinary works by artists of the caliber of Rubens, Ribera, Luca Giordano, Mattia Preti, Guido Reni, Antoon Van Dyck, Pietro da Cortona, Suttermans, Carlo Dolci, Furini and Elisabetta Sirani, as well as the “Maddalena in ecstasy” by the Milanese master Caravaggio. The exhibition hosted in the Monregalese exhibition space covers a time span of approximately sixty years and presents the public with a varied selection of paintings that stand out for their chiaroscuro and unmistakably strong features. The exhibition, curated by Pierluigi Carofano, is organized by Piemonte Musei and the BeLocal Association, in collaboration with the Insieme Association, the Order of the Knights of the Langhe and Happee Place, with the support of the CRC Foundation and the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo , City of Mondovì, Visit Cuneese and Confcommercio of Mondovì.
