He lied about the beating, pretending to be a stranger or unaware. In lying, he accused journalists of being idiots who go after false news and who persecute him, going so far as to use the deaths in Gaza to make good-natured claims. He delegitimized the victim by saying that if she didn’t report it she wasn’t beaten. He covered the other thugs who also threatened the vigilantes. He ran away leaving an injured person in front of a building. Once the news was leaked, he went to the Book Fair to talk to young people about mental health as if nothing had happened, seeking applause as a victim of the press’s obsession with him. Overall, a nice picture. Then, without ever having admitted that he had told lies by exploiting Gaza and tarnishing the work of journalists, he pays the victim not to file a complaint so as to avoid a trial for aggravated assault and battery.
