Edoardo Di Iorio, Italian businessman run over and killed in a taxi by a drunk traveling the wrong way in Spain

A night that started with a party and ended in blood. As Edward DiIorio48 years old, a Roman entrepreneur residing in Miami (USA) and active in the field of nocturnal musical events, died following a very serious road accident which occurred at dawn last Sunday 5 March in Madrid, Spain, while he was returning hotel aboard a taxi: the accident was allegedly caused, according to the Europa Press agency, by an 18-year-old young man who proceeded in the wrong direction, who later tested positive for the alcohol test.

“The entrepreneur of the night” was killed instantly in the tremendous head-on collision caused by the Jeep coming from the opposite direction. The taxi was thrown over a guardrail and the 48-year-old suffered a head injury that left him no way out: any resuscitation attempts by rescuers were useless. There was nothing they could do for him, while the taxi driver was rushed to the hospital.

According to what emerged from the Spanish media, the man was returning to his hotel room after spending the evening at the Ifema in Madrid (basically a Spanish Lingotto Fiere) where his agency “Utopya” he had just organized the electronic music event “Afterlife”, with the well-known duo of Italian DJs and music producers “Tale of Us” at the console: the evening had been a complete success, with tickets completely sold out.

For Di Iorio everything seemed to be going great. And suddenly, everything was blown away by that tragic impact. Reached by telephone by the newspaper El Pais, the representatives of Utopya – the company that the victim had founded in Miami in 2004 – preferred not to comment on the pain caused by the disappearance of the entrepreneur.

Edoardo Di Iorio was born 48 years ago in Frosolone, in Molise, but he started working in the food sector in Rome in the late 90s, at the age of 23. Then, the great leap abroad, where the entrepreneur boasted experiences with the Sls Las Vegas Casino, the Soho Garden in Dubai and the famous Pacha in Ibiza.

After moving to Miami, Florida, and other adventures in the restaurant and “nightlife” field, Di Iorio founded Utopya in 2004, the real flagship of a more than twenty-year career.

After a life of travel, parties and professional adventures, the entrepreneur of the Molise night left his wife Monica in the tragic night in Madrid. A city where he had never yet organized any event and where he will never have the opportunity to return.
