Exports of arms produced by Israel reached a historic record during 2023, exceeding the value of 12 billion euros (more than 13 billion dollars). The data was released by the Ministry of Defense according to which 36% of exports concern air defense systems, compared to 19% the previous year. Others significant peaks concern radar and electronic warfare systems (11%), fire and launch equipment (11%), drones and avionics (9%) and ammunition and armaments (8%). Israel is the first country in the world by value of arms exports per capita ($97), ahead of Russia ($57) and Sweden ($53).
As it is known, weapons that have been successfully tested on real battlefields, they are sold on the markets more easily and there has been no shortage of opportunities to do so for Israel. In 2023, nearly half of defense exports (48%) went to countries in Asia and the Pacific with India, Singapore and Azerbaijan as major customers. The quote of Europe rises to 35% from 29% in 2022. Another 9% of Israeli exports end up in North America, 4% in Latin America, 3% in the countries that are part of the Abraham Accords and another 1% in African countries.
