The tension between Israel And Lebanon continues to rise, after the threats of invasion uttered yesterday by Tel Aviv to face the Shiite militias of Hezbollah. Incendiary weapons usable only for illumination purposes or against military targets, but never in areas where there is a risk of hitting people or civilian structures. HRW has denounced that these attacks are putting “civilians in a situation of serious risk” and are worsening the further displacement of the local population in at least 17 municipalities in southern Lebanon since October 2023. “Israel’s use of air-burst white phosphorus munitions in populated areas indiscriminately harms civilians and has led many to flee their homes – he said Ramzi KaissLebanese HRW researcher – Israeli forces should immediately stop using white phosphorus ammunition in populated areas, especially when less harmful alternatives are available.”
