It’s always Cartabianca, Corona and the father’s shocking story: “Good for nothing like you”

At È semper Cartabianca the story of a childhood drama by Mauro Corona was broadcast. The mountaineer, a regular guest on the program hosted by Bianca Berlinguer, retold a story from the early years of his life. “In my childhood memories I have a story. My father killed a dog with a rifle”: this is how he began. And the journalist left room for the narrative, but asked the reason for this extreme and unjustified gesture made by her guest’s father. “It was a winter morning. This dog was no good, he was no good for anything. A good for nothing like you, he said. And so he took the shotgun and pretended to go get some birds to eat them”, continued the writer.

“We heard the shot and he came back without the dog. He had shot it because it wasn’t working, it wasn’t performing. We were silent and cried in silence. Our affectionate dog. These are my childhood memories”, continued Corona. “How old was he?” Berlinguer asked directly. “About nine years old. My mother ran away and came back when I was 13,” he replied. “Was it painful for everyone?” the journalist asked again. “Since I and my brothers had no affection, the animals were the only friends we had. With them we were in company. It is a pain that I still carry. I don’t have anger or melancholy, but this strong melancholy. I have received terrible things and free that were not necessary”, he concluded.
