Former Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi has left prison and been transferred to house arrest. An official source made this known to AFP. At the same time, a spokesperson for the country’s military authorities stated that older prisoners are provided with “necessary care” during periods of heat and it is therefore unclear whether this is a temporary measure or a real reduction in the sentence the prisoner is serving. 78 year old Nobel Prize winner.

The amnesty

Burma’s ruling military junta has announced that it has granted amnesty to more than 3,300 prisoners to mark the Burmese New Year. The other prisoners, we read in a note, will benefit from a reduction of one sixth of the sentence, with the exception of those convicted of murder, terrorism and drug trafficking.
