A study seems to confirm that in rural areas are missing charging pointsproving reticent to electric mobility. An example of this situation is the story that happened to a couple from California that in Montana they couldn’t find a place to supply energy to their own Tesla. A similar situation seems to arise also in Europe.
Are electric cars unsuitable in rural areas?
A new global survey, presented during the second Freedom of Mobility Forumhighlighted that more than half of the inhabitants of rural areas have a low propensity for solutions ecological. This detail represents a non-negligible obstacle to the progress of sustainable mobility.
The study in question involved the citizens of five countries: United States, France, Morocco, India and Brazil. The results obtained reveal that only a small number of citizens, among those interviewed, have started to change their mobility habits. Less than 10% of the interested parties have adopted some sustainable choices for transport. Among these solutions we find electric cars, public transport with low emissions, etc. Furthermore, the majority of individuals interviewed believe that the purchasing power and the poor infrastructure they are the real obstacle to entry to public mobility.
In general, the trend towards electric transition varies depending on the areas of residence, both urban and rural. Furthermore, a was found greater reluctancein rural areas, among users among higher age groups. More anxious people are less likely to change their mobility habits.
In this regard, it is important to highlight that the petrol price continues to increase, and even in Italy, the threshold has reached approximately 2,10 euros per liter which could even reach 2,5 € with the arrival of summer. The reasons are varied and range from the crude oil supply chain to the continuous tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine.
