23 years have passed since the release of the first film in the saga of the most famous magician in the world, but the enthusiasm of the fans has never died. Harry Potter, after 7 films and the prequels Fantastic Beasts, is ready to return with a TV series. There have been rumors about this project for years, but confirmation has finally arrived: HBO has appointed Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and Mark Mylod as director of the series and, therefore, work will be able to start shortly. The new project, barring slowdowns, should see the light in 2026.
The TV series
There are not many known details regarding the series, but it is certain that the executive producer will be the writer JK Rowling and that the series should be as faithful as possible to the books. The project will have a completely new cast compared to the films and should last about 10 years (probably 7 seasons, one for each book). The goal is to introduce Harry Potter to the new generations and to entertain the Millennials who grew up with the first version. Film producer David Heyman should also be involved in the making of the series.

Francesca Gardiner, who will be showrunner and executive producer in the Harry Potter series, won the Emmy award as producer of Succession. Mark Mylod, instead, will direct several episodes and will also be an executive producer. In his career he has directed several episodes of Successionincluding the finale and won an Emmy Award for directing the third episode of the fourth season.
