With a long message intended for “Dear readers”, you defended the choice of adaptation: «Many Bridgerton fans have expressed their surprise and, for some, disappointment in the twist at the end of season three. – he wrote – Anyone who has seen an interview with me from the last 4 years knows that I’m very committed to making the world of Bridgerton diverse and inclusive transporting stories from books to the screen».
Then he continued: «Changing the gender of one of the characters is a big change and when Jess Brownell approached me about the idea of making Michael Michaela, I needed more information before giving my consent. I trust Shondaland’s vision for Bridgertonbut I wanted to make sure it stayed true to the spirit of the book and the characters». After summarizing in detail the love story between Francesca and John and the importance of Michael’s arrival, she added: «I trust that when Francesca has her season, it will be very emotional and poignant».
The author concludes her message thus: «I ask you to trust me and the Shondaland team as we move forward. I think we’ll end up with two stories, one on paper and one on screen, and they’ll both be beautiful and moving.».
