After the marathon of the last four episodes of the third season of Bridgertonfans of the Shondaland romantic series will already be wondering when it will be released fourth. Netflixon the other hand, has already confirmed the arrival of a fourth chapter for some time and fans are eager to discover all the previews: when will the new episodes arrive? Who will be the protagonist of the next love story taken from the books of Julia Quinn? Luckily we can finally answer these and other questions, as the showrunner of the series Jess Brownell revealed something more. The final episodes of the third, then, hide several clues as to which Bridgerton brother could be central.
Bridgerton: Season 4 will be released in 2026
We need to arm ourselves with patience since, apparently, the fourth season of Bridgerton won’t arrive before 2026. The showrunner Jess Brownell, in fact, has made it known that the script is almost ready but also that the work will still be long. “We’re working to try to get the seasons out more quickly, but it takes eight months to shoot them and then they have to be edited and then dubbed into each language,” she told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the London premiere of the new episodes. “And the writing also takes a long time, so we have a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed up, but it will come out at some point in that time frame,” he added when calling the fourth season of Bridgerton one of his “best works”. “I’m really excited about what we’re writing. The writers’ room is almost done. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and the best work of my writing team. We’ve really solidified our collaboration and we’re giving it our all, so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have in store,” concluded Brownell.

But who will be the protagonist of the fourth season of Bridgerton? The clues hidden in the ending of the third seem to point in a very specific direction. And, if until recently there was still uncertainty between Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Benedict (Luke Thompson), everything seems clear now.

The season three finale gave the Polins the happy ending they deserved but, more importantly, it teased that Benedict could be the protagonist of the next season. In the episode, as Eloise prepares to leave for Scotland with Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), John Stirling (Victor Alli) and Michaela (Masali Baduza), tells Benedict that his journey will not be long. “Do you think Mom would ever let me miss her masquerade ball?” she says. Benedict, who doesn’t feel ready to “settle down” yet, responds, “I’ll be there, hiding behind a mask, avoiding suitors like the plague.” The reference, of course, is to Julia Quinn’s novel A gentleman’s proposal which tells the love story of Benedict and Sophie Beckett. In the book, which is inspired by the story of Cinderella, Benedict meets his future bride during a masquerade ball. Of course, official confirmation from Netflix is still missing but the reference to Benedict seems clear.
