We have reached the fifteenth and final episode of The Bad Batch 3titled “The cavalry has arrived”which closes not only the third season but also the events of the entire series. Below you will find my review, as always first without and then with spoilers!

A satisfying ending to The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch 3 poster

The most important purpose of this episode was to conclude the events of the Bad Batch in a satisfying way, and he succeeded completely in many respects. The episode gave us excellent clashes and adrenaline-filled action scenes, with truly exceptional visual quality. Obviously there was no shortage of them the exciting momentswhich closed all the narrative lines of the series, both in a traumatic (but fair) way and in a more placid way.

There were some small flaws in the lore and missed connections with some key macro events, but nothing transcendental that cannot happen in the future. In fact, the last sequences expertly show us two paths: the testimony of a happy ending, and a legacy that blossoms and is ready to blaze along with hope in the galaxy. It’s really hard to talk about it without spoilers, then Don’t continue reading if you haven’t seen 3×15!

Escape plan

The Zillo Beast is released

This final episode obviously also begins with a fast-paced rhythm and soundtrack: all the protagonists waste no time and jump into action. Especially Omega, which expertly manages to stun Dr. Scalder and to bring children to safety. A salvation which, as we had guessed, comes from a very eventful diversion: the liberation of the Zillo Beast. In true Kaiju movie style, the creature wreaks havoc and destruction on the Mount Tantiss structure, also creating a breach from which to escape.

The graphic quality of the Zillo and these action sequences is very high and valuable, and keeps the viewer’s adrenaline pumping. Meanwhile, Clone Force 99, clearly tired, approaches the structure. Already from this moment The protagonists’ dialogues are truly splendid and meaningful, especially that of Crosshair. Meanwhile, Emerie Karr and Echo arrive at the vault. Here the two discover what Omega had accomplished, and all the protagonists underline how conspicuous and important the girl’s signature was on that chaotic but effective mess: a sign of how much it had also grown tactically.

Clashes on every front

Echo and Omega free the captive clones

After the Zillo Beast fulfills its function, the clashes begin between the Bad Batch and the killer clones activated by Hemlock. Unfortunately in this phase our protagonists are defeated and taken to the reconditioning facility, to suffer that unfortunate fate. In these sequences, as in the following ones, I really appreciated the different design and variety in the armaments of the assassin clones. And above all I appreciated that they remained generic clones.

Meanwhile, Echo and Emerie manage to find Omega and the children, who they are taken to safety by the doctor while our people will return to save all the other clones. Their loyalty, which to Hemlock was a weakness, it would instead have been their strong point. Something that would also have given Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair the strength to react.

The Bad Batch: The Showdown

Echo and Omega thus free the captive clones, but also Nala Se and Rampart. At this juncture we will have two important showdowns in parallel: Hemlock’s with the team (after definitively defeating the killer clones) and precisely that of Nala Se with Rampart. Both will definitively close all the comparisons that have arisen during these three seasons. I especially appreciated it the sacrifice of the kaminoanawhich manages to nullify the efforts made up to that point on the Necromancer project and above all permanently erases Omega’s involvement. And it is enlightening that in front of her is Rampart, the architect of the fall of her people of his housewho once again wanted to take advantage of the situation for himself.

Therefore, in addition to doing the right thing, she also avenges what happened in the first season. On the other side, in true Starwarsian style, the final face-to-face with Hemlock takes place. The doctor tries a last desperate gesture, but… it can do nothing against the bond created between the protagonists. He is thus eliminated once and for all, after a beautiful sequence of understanding and revenge between us, and Omega’s final embrace with Crosshair and Hunter eases the tension and fills the spectator with emotion. The team did it.

Dismantling and peaceful life

Omega and Hunter in the final scene

Clone Force 99 and all the survivors find themselves on Pabu, while Tarkin arrives on Weyland and dismantles the facility, redirecting the funds to the Stellina project. I was sorry that a connection has not been created with Exegol, a place where, as we canonically know, the efforts of the Necromancer project would continue (which is by no means concluded as one might think). Furthermore, Galen Erso would only call the Death Star project “little star” after 13 BBY, five years later. So we have a small retcon, although not too much, but still a takeaway a bit of pathos to the events of Rogue One. But I will have the opportunity to tell you about it in detail in the Easter egg analysis.

Meanwhile, the Bad Batch finally manages to earn what they had fought so hard for: a peaceful life. And the time jump at the end shows us that the team she would really be away from the fight for a long time. Omega, however, now grown up, feels the call of the Rebellion in her. So she collects the legacy of his brothersand flies away from his home and his loved ones to contribute to the return of hope to the galaxy. An emotional and meaningful ending thatas mentioned, beautifully closes the events of Clone Force 99.
