Let’s immediately clarify the context: “tycoon” is an American word that indicates an industrial magnate, a powerful and authoritarian figure. In this case, the Tycoon of the novel and miniseries is loosely based on the famous producer Irving Thalbergcreator of the Oscar Award, who had to fight against his boss to carry forward his idea of cinema.
This TV miniseries on Prime Video explores well the role of the media in idealizing events and the cultural influence of Hollywood in shaping the public perception of reality, especially during one of the most turbulent periods in history, such as the years immediately preceding the Second World War.
To embody The Last Tycoontherefore, he was chosen to take on the role of the protagonist Matt Bomera much loved actor known to the general public especially for his role as Neal Caffrey in the television series “White Collar”.

Hollywood, 1936. America is plagued by the problems of the Great Depression and also by the growing influence of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany.

A story also arises between the two, but the woman rejects the idea of being just a kind of substitute for his dead wife.
Meanwhile, Brady’s film has a terrible debut and he has to give in to accepting Stahr’s collaboration, he tries to keep his niece Cecelia away from the world of cinema. But she can’t escape the charm of show business…
