During a dinner Marcello and Adelaide are reached by some not positive news given that both will lose a large sum of money. Feeling guilty for what happened, Marcello handed in his resignation as administrator of Adelaide’s estate at that time Umberto Guarnieri will step up to take his place.

The commendatore’s strange move generates some perplexity, especially in Flora, with the woman deciding to talk about it with Marcello himself. From the conversation they will understand that Umberto is hiding something very important and for this reason Marcello will ask Flora for help to investigate this sensation.

Flora immediately confides that she wants to go through with it, also driven by the jealousy she feels towards Adelaide. The research leads to a key piece of evidence that it could be within the documents that Umberto kept in his study, used to shorten the wait for Silvana’s transplant. Flora, faced with the documents, would take little time to figure out what happened, putting Umberto’s back against the wall.

If the woman was certain of what the Commander had done, she might decide not to forgive him. The reason would not be due to her jealousy towards Adelaide but to the fact of having played on the life of a person in difficulty, Silvana, using her son.
