No step backwards on the part of the production of Island of the Famous regarding the exclusion of the actor Francesco Benigno. What happened and what caused the contestant’s expulsion from the reality show still remains the utmost secrecy. In the episode aired after the decision of Banijay and Mediaset, the presenter Vladimir Luxuria reiterated that Benigno’s exclusion is linked “to some behaviors considered harmful to the regulation, which every castaway signs before leaving”. Luxuria explained that “one episode in particular led to him loosening up.” It would have been triggered by an “episode which was not acceptable and which made his stay on the beach impossible”.
However, those who hoped that Benigno’s provocation, which invited the production to show the images of the disputed episode, would be accepted, were disappointed. Luxuria clarified that those images would not be broadcast so as not to “give visibility to episodes of intolerable conduct”. And while the studio audience applauds, Luxuria decides to add her own comment to the statement agreed with the production: «I saw this scene. On the island we argue, we can discuss but we cannot transcend. And I think the fact that we don’t show these scenes is a sign of respect for you at home. But that Francesco Benigno should also thank us for not showing them.”
