Fermo, 7 March 2023 – Where you go be a Monday like everyone else: the school bus which, shortly after eight, passes in via Pisanelli, a Casette d’Etefraction of Sant’Elpidio a Mare, which stops to pick up the children and then starts again. Headed for kindergarten. Instead, yesterday was a terrible, terrible Monday. A baby, little Jaghunar Singh, he ended up under the school bus which ran over him and died instantly. He was one and a half years old. A tragedy that took place in very few damned moments, breaking the life of that creature that was entering the world in the bud. An indescribable scene that took place with the mother a few steps away.
Second a first reconstruction carried out by the forces of order who intervened on the spot, the mother had crossed the street (one-way with parking on both sides) with her older 5-year-old girl to get her on the bus as she does every morning which would take her to the nursery school. In those same moments in which little Jaghunar, who apparently remained in front of the house awaiting his mother’s return (it would have taken a few moments to return to him), with the recklessness and unpredictability that are typical of all children, would have gone down the street to get closer to mom and little sister in the same fatal momentin which the school bus left again, ending up under the rear wheel of the vehicle.
The desperate cries of the mother who rushed next to the child lying on the asphalt attracted the attention of the driver of the school bus who, once again, had traveled just a few meters.
The chauffeura 57-year-old man, felt freeze the heart when, from the rear view mirror, he saw that little body in the middle of the road and understood what was due to that strange jolt of the vehicle a few seconds earlier. The children’s assistant is also a volunteer of the Blue Cross. She was the first to get off the vehicle and rescue the little one on the ground. She catapulted towards Jaghunar, practicing the necessary maneuvers while awaiting the arrival of help. The ambulances and the self-medicine of Sant’Elpidio a Mare arrived on the spot in a flash, but there was nothing more they could do for the child.

At that point, some militias arranged themselves in a circle around the little body, spreading sheets to protect it from the gazes of the residents and the numerous compatriots of the family (of Indian origin) recalled to via Pisanelli by the sirens of the emergency vehicles and the heartbreaking cry of the mother who, supported by her husband, screamed to heaven in all her despair.
They touched the ropes deeper than the heart were her anguished wails when that tiny body was placed in a zinc coffin too large and too unjust, and taken to the morgue. The cadaveric inspection was not sufficient to ascertain what the judiciary deems necessary to clarify for which the magistrate ordered the autopsy and an investigation file was opened in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the crime hypothesis is vehicular homicide.
The school bus it was placed under seizure. The findings were carried out by the local police, but patrols from the police and carabinieri from the local station also arrived on the spot. Yesterday afternoon in via Pisanelli there was a continuous coming and going of people who wanted to show closeness to the family of little Jaghunar after the tragedy that also affected the entire community of Casette.
