A young woman is making headlines by claiming to be Madeleine McCannthe 3-year-old English girl who disappeared on May 3, 2007 from the room of the residence where she was sleeping in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
It all started with an Instagram profile with an unmistakable name ‘Immadeleinemcann‘. “I think I’m Madeleine McCann, help me” writes the girl who claims to be German and her name is Julia.
She claims to be 21, but believes her age might be wrong. Maddie would have been 19 today. And she explains that she began to think she might be the young girl who disappeared “a few months ago” after a comment from her grandmother on the story of the little girl who disappeared into thin air.
To corroborate her thesis, she also publishes some of her photos as a child which, according to her, would attest to her resemblance to Maddie.
She also claims that she has freckles similar to Madeleine’s on her legs and is so convinced that she is Madeleine that she would like to make a DNA testing. She also addresses Madeleine’s parents in her Instagram bio.
“Help me, I need to talk to Kate and Gerry McCann, I think I can be Madeleine. I need proof,” she reads.
And then he adds that investigators in the UK and Poland “are ignoring her”, but that “she will continue to tell her story here [su Instagram e TikTok]”.
Her posts (also on TikTok) have gone viral in recent months: many still want to believe in a happy ending to the story, even if investigators have long claimed that Maddie is actually dead. And with great rapidity the fake profiles of people have also proliferated who, riding on its success, have duplicated its contents. A bit like what also happened with ‘our’ Denise Pipitone with the story of the Russian reality TV show which ventured the hypothesis that a girl was precisely the little girl who disappeared in Mazara del Vallo.
