Arezzo, 1 July 2024 – A positive and constructive meeting between the Bishop of the Diocese of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro took place on Wednesday 26 June at the Diocese of Arezzo HE Monsignor Andrea Migliavacca, Don Ignazio, the Bishop of the city of Makeni (Sierra Leone) and the Rector of the University of Makeni. The meeting was made possible thanks to the activity and work that Carlo Landucci has been carrying out for more than twenty years in Zambia and for about twelve years in Sierra Leone together with the association “Occhi della Speranza”, of which he is president.

Don Ignazio, the bishop of Makeni and the Rector of the University of Makeni were received in Castiglion Fiorentino and then accompanied to Arezzo by Monsignor Migliavacca, who was very participatory and intrigued by the activities of “Eyes of Hope” in Zambia and Sierra Leone .

“Monsignor Migliavacca didn’t know our association – said Landucci – and therefore he was curious, he asked us many questions. The meeting was profitable for our association and, thanks to the availability of Monsignor Migliavacca, the foundations were laid for future collaborations”.

Today, Monday 1st July, Carlo Landucci is travelling to Treviso, where he will take part in some organizational meetings in view of eight missionary trips to Zambia and Sierra Leone planned between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025; while in August he will leave together with four other friends for his new mission in Zambia, where he will stay for fifteen days to continue the humanitarian missions. The first mission will involve a team of ophthalmologists.
