CODEVIGO (PADOVA) – Yet another road tragedy yesterday evening, June 30, around 10 pm along the Romea on the border between the provinces of Padua and Venice. The accident occurred in the hamlet of Rosara di Codevigo and involved a 41-year-old man, Giovanni Luca Lomartire, originally from Manduria (Taranto) and employed by the Coast Guard of Ravenna.

Accident on the Romea: the dynamics

On impact, the motorcyclist like a bullet shot against the guardrail and then crashed into a scooter, a camper and a small car. He died instantly. The scooter rider was virtually unharmed. While the Carabinieri of the Codevigo station together with the firefighters were carrying out various activities, a small accessory was noticed on the victim’s motorbike, a bag that seemed to belong to a woman. Since the Novissimo canal was near the area of the accident, as a precaution the area was brightly lit to verify that a potential passenger had not ended up in the water. This hypothesis was shelved shortly after.

Traffic jams throughout the night. Only at the first light of dawn was the transit reopened to users. Sunday night’s accident was yet another accident on that stretch of road.
