The Contrada Capitana dell’Onda won the third test of the Palio on July 2, with Carlo Sanna, known as Brigante, riding Tabacco.
No alignment problems and a record-breaking move for speed. The start is immediate and the Valdimontone takes off in front of everyone, immediately behind Oca, Civetta, Onda and Leocorno from a slightly higher position. Nicchio, which hits the canape, and Lupa, due to a swerve by Zenios, do not start. Scompiglio lets Veranu slide and maintains the lead until Cappella, then lets Civetta pass, with Guglielmi trying hard Crypt until at the second Casato, when the mare slips, without consequences and the jockey slows down. From the rear comes Onda who tries a move and goes on to win the test.
