Ivan Marconi’s adventure with the rosanero shirt will end today, after four seasons. The former Monza defender was one of the architects of Palermo’s rebirth.
After a first season of adaptation in Serie C, it was in the second part of the second season that Marconi began to become leader of the team. With Mr. Baldini on the bench he practically always plays as a starter and contributes in the first place to the playoff victory, with that decisive save in the final in Padua.
In the 22/23 season he started at the bottom of the pecking order, but due to a series of events including the switch to a 3-man defence, Marconi played very often and also scored 3 key goals, two in particular were worth very important victories against Parma and Bari at the Barbera, both of which took place in pouring rain.
In the last year the ambitions have risen and, also due to his age, Ivan has sometimes had difficulties. Then, the two big individual errors connected to Como and Brescia weigh heavily. Now the natural separation, but it is certain that all the rosanero fans will keep a great memory of the hero of Padua, or the rain man. In other words, Ivan Marconi.
