SPIELBERG (AUSTRIA) (ITALPRESS) – The world champion, Max
Verstappen won the Sprint Race of the Austrian Grand Prix. At Red Bull’s home circuit, the Dutchman battled with the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at the start, then went away and finished without any problems. Fourth place for George Russell’s Mercedes, fifth Carlos Sainz with his Ferrari. Sixth was Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes, then the other Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc ahead of Sergio Perez (Red Bull). Closing out the top ten are Kevin Magnussen (Haas), ninth, and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), tenth. “It was an emotional victory, there was a battle at the start then I did my race. The McLarens have two cars that go fast, they attack and it shows. Even tomorrow, with a longer race, with tires that wear more, we will have to see how the race will be. In practice tomorrow will be another tough battle and I will try to manage the race,” commented Verstappen. Qualifying for the long race is scheduled for 4pm on the Austrian circuit.
