The first degree criminal trial against RC and SS, both accused of vehicular homicide, ends without conviction. The victim of the accident, which occurred in October 2016, was a woman who died after the collision between the car driven by the accused SS (in which she was aboard) and the agricultural tractor of the other accused RC
The sentence was pronounced in the afternoon by the single judge of the first criminal section of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Marzia Pellegrino, after a long deliberation lasting several hours.
SS, on board his car, while traveling along the municipal road of the municipality of Sant’Angelo d’Alife, characterized by an asphalted road surface with poor maintenance and covered in mud, was not aware of the presence of the agricultural tractor presumably left parked and without of warning panels. Due to the violent impact, KS, on board the vehicle in the front seat, lost his life, despite the immediate intervention of the 118 operators. The victim’s family members did not take civil action because they obtained compensation from the insurance, renouncing be part of the proceedings. The reasons for the sentence will be filed within 90 days. The defendants were defended by the lawyers Renato Jappelli, Paolo Iuliano and by the lawyer Redaelli Spreafico Odoardo of the Milan Bar.
