CONSUMER PRICE INDEX FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IN THE CITY
OF CAGLIARI
PRESS RELEASE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2024
The consumer price indices for May 2024 have been compiled taking into account the limitations,
differentiated at regional level, defined by national and local regulations to combat the pandemic caused
of Covid-19.
The structure of the consumer price survey, based on the use of a plurality of channels for
data acquisition, continued to reduce the negative effects of the higher number of
lack of information on the quality of measurements of consumer price dynamics.
The ways in which the situation that arose was gradually addressed are illustrated
in the Methodological Note of the press release issued today by Istat in which it is also recalled that
the indices at the different levels of aggregation, both national and local, which have had a share of attributions
greater than 50% (in terms of missing prices and/or weight), are reported using the “i” flag
(given
accused).
In Cagliari, in the month of May 2024, the consumer price index for the entire community, for the part
cyclical, marked a variation of +0.3%, thus resulting in a counter-trend compared to the month
previous one in which a variation of -0.2% was recorded.
The trend index records a variation of +1.5%, which is also an increase compared to +1.4%.

Main changes by division in MAY 2024
Food and non-alcoholic beverages
The division under examination, this month, records a cyclical variation of +0.4%, which is in
increase compared to +0.1% in the previous month. The trend index appears to have a variation of +2.6%,
thus marking a decrease compared to the +3.1% recorded in the month of April. Specifically in
increase, significant changes were noted in the classes “Fruit” +6.6%, “Oils and fats” +1.2% and “Coffee, tea and
cocoa” +1.1%. No significant variation is reported in decrease.
Alcoholic drinks and tobacco
The division index, in the month of May, recorded a cyclical variation of +0.1%, in the month of
April had seen a variation of +0.9%. The trend index recorded a variation of +2.3%,
thus also decreasing compared to the +2.9% recorded in the previous month. In singles
classes, whether increasing or decreasing, there is no significant change.
Clothing and footwear
In this division, this month, the economic index records a variation of +0.1% over the month
the previous year there had been a variation of -0.8%. The trend index recorded a variation of +0.1%,
thus resulting in the same value as the previous month. Specifically, there is no increase

Housing, water, electricity and fuel
In the current division, this month, there is a cyclical variation of -0.6%, a value which results in
increase compared to -3.6% recorded in the previous month. The trend index, which records -5.4%, is
be a decrease compared to the -4.9% recorded in April. In individual classes, increasing
there are no significant variations. There are significant variations in the “Energy” classes
“electric” and “Heating oil” -2.1%.
Furniture, household goods and services In this division, in the current month, a change is reported
of +0.8%, which is in contrast to the -0.1% of the previous month. The index
year-on-year, it recorded a change of +0.2%, which also goes against the trend
value of the month of April which was -0.3%. In the individual increasing classes there are significant variations on
“Home cleaning and maintenance services” +2.5%, “Repair of household appliances” +1.9% and
“Non-durable household goods” +1.7%. There is only one significant decrease in the class
“Large electrical and non-electrical household appliances” -1.5%.

Health services and health expenses
The division’s economic index shows no change this month, as it did in the month
previous. The trend index, which stands at a variation of +1.4%, appears to be increasing compared to the
value of the month of April which was +1.3%. Specifically, there is no increase or decrease reported
no significant changes.
Transport
The division’s economic index in May showed a change of -0.4%, in contrast with the
previous month when the same index had changed by +0.6%. The trend index has a
change of +3.7%, thus increasing compared to the value recorded in the previous month
+3.2%. Specifically, significant increases are reported in the classes “Passenger transport on
rail” +2.5% and “Maritime and inland waterway transport” +2.1%. They are reported to be decreasing
significant variations in the classes “Passenger air transport” -5.5% and “Fuel and lubricants for vehicles
of private transport” -1.3%.
Communications
In this division, in the month of May, there was a cyclical variation of -0.1%, thus resulting in
increase compared to the value recorded in the previous month which was -0.6%. The trend index which stands at
a change of -1.7%, also appears to be increasing compared to the -2.1% that occurred in the month of
April. Among the individual items, there is no significant increase. There is a decrease
report only one significant change in the class “Telephones and fax machines” -1.7%.
Recreation, entertainment and culture
The economic rate of this division, in May, marks a change of +0.5%, a value that results
to be increasing compared to the previous month in which a variation of +0.1% was recorded. The index
trend registers a variation of +0.8%, which is also an increase compared to the +0.4% which
it occurred in April. Among the individual items, there is only one significant increase
in the “Recreational and sports services” class +16.8%. Significant variations are to be noted in decrease
in the classes “Information processing equipment” -2.1%, “Photographic equipment and
cinematographic and optical instruments” and “Recording media” -1.6%, “Holiday packages” -1.1% and
“Apparatus for receiving, recording and reproducing sound and images” -1.0%.
Instruction
In this division, this month, the economic index does not record any changes, as in the previous month.

only one significant variation is reported in the “Accommodation services” class +9.5%. There is no decrease

Other goods and services
In this division, in May, the economic index recorded a variation of +0.3%, thus resulting in
decrease compared to the +0.7% value recorded in the previous month. The trend index has a
change of +2.8%, which is the same value recorded in April. Among the individual entries, in
increase, only one significant change should be noted in the class “Related insurance services
to housing” +1.4%. Even in decrease, only one significant variation is reported in the class
“Electrical appliances for personal care” -3.9%.

July 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
