Fourth track: Italferr takes possession of the areas

Expropriations in the “hot” phase. Emergency procedure to acquire land and start work.

Vanzago – The procedure to reach the imminent start of the construction sites for the strengthening of the railway line between Rho and Parabiago and the so-called fourth track is proceeding at a rapid pace. In recent days, Italferr has notified the interested parties of the “Decree of emergency occupation prior to expropriation and notice for taking possession of the areas”. With this provision, Italferr will take possessionwith an emergency procedure and before the actual expropriation, of 80% of the areas included in the Expropriation Particular Plan approved within the Integrated Definitive Project for the Rho-Parabiago railway upgrade on 28 June 2023. For the cmunicipality of Vanzago, the most affected by expropriations, the meeting to take possession of the areas will take place on 10 July 2024. The society plans to complete took possession of the areas along the entire railway line within the end of lJuly 2024. Italferr will then transfer these areas to Impresa Luigi Notari to proceed with the preparatory phases for the construction of the railway works which are the tree cutting and the ordnance disposal. As reported by the municipality of Vanzaghese nAt the moment, Italferr is not planning to occupy the buildings or properties in Vanzago, which will have to be demolished or completely expropriated (come the properties in via Vittorio Veneto and via Greppi, the courtyard in via Ferrario, the courtyard in via Cantoniera) nor the condominiums in via Valle Ticino 36 and via Madre Teresa di Calcutta. In fact thetemporary occupation allows Italferr to take possession of these lands and the owners have 30 days to contest the compensation offered. In the event of an agreement on the compensation offered, the owner of the occupied area will receive 80% of the sum as a down payment. In the event of failure to reach an agreement on the compensation offered, litigation procedures with Italferr will open: construction is now upon us.
