Starting August 20th, the American customers who choose Paramount+ they will find themselves faced with a price increase. The platform announced that new subscribers will have to pay more for some of their main plans. For example, the piano Paramount Plus with Showtime included will see an increase from $11.99 to $12.99 per month, while the plans Paramount Plus with ads Limited and Paramount Plus Essential will both go upfrom $5.99 to $7.99 monthly.
A series of price increases for Paramount subscriptions
Despite this, the prices for the annual subscriptions Paramount Plus Essential and Paramount Plus with Showtime will remain unchanged. Customers already paying $5.99 per month for Paramount Plus Essential will keep their price. With regard to Paramount Plus con Showtimecurrent subscribers will see the new price applied at the time of subsequent renewal or after September 20th.
This increase represents the second increase of prices after the merger of Paramount with Showtime. The decision was made following the end of the agreement with Skydance
and as part of a broader strategy to restructure and reposition Paramount. The new management team, consisting of George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins, announced plans to recover 500 million of dollars through corporate restructuring measures, including cost reductions and operational optimizations.
All is quiet on the Italian market, but for how much longer?
In Italy, Paramount Plus is currently available at the cost of €7.99 per month for the plan Standard, with no announcements of price increases at the moment. The prezzo it remained stable since the launch of the service in Italian market. However, if we take into consideration what has happened elsewhere, and the recent tariff updates of other streaming giants such as Netflix and Disney+, it cannot be ruled out that Paramount may evaluate further price revisions to maintain its competitiveness and sustainability in the global streaming market.
