The single cumulative ticket to visit the four most important archaeological sites in western Sicily was presented to the Region this morning: the parks of the Valley of the Temples, Segesta and Selinunte and the “Salinas” museum. The “Sicily of the Temples” coupon will be valid for 15 days and will allow you to use the four sites.

Various types of tickets are offered: from the cumulative ticket to the four sites Salinas, Valle dei Templi, Segesta and Selinunte (36.20 euros and reduced 20.60 euros); to the combination Valle dei Templi + Salinas (18.20 euros; concessions 10.60 euros); Salinas + Segesta (15.60 euros; reduced 8.80 euros); Salinas + Selinunte (13.60 euros; reduced 6.80 euros). Tickets include additions to current exhibitions and will allow, over the 15 days, only one entry to the sites involved.

“A provision that has been awaited for years – said the councilor for cultural heritage and Sicilian identity, Francesco Paolo Scarpinato – which we have finally managed to achieve. We are already working to extend this initiative to sites in eastern Sicily, thus creating a virtuous circuit of cultural and tourist promotion that can enhance the entire heritage of the island”.

Tickets include additions to current exhibitions and will allow, over the 15 days, only one entry to the sites involved. Thanks to the collaboration between the directors of the Museum and Parks and CoopCulture, which manages the services, visitors will be able to follow the traces of the civilizations that “inhabited” the Island, enjoying savings of around 20 percent on the cost total admissions.

Valley of the Temples. Every day there are routes available that lead to the discovery of the site: from the early Christian necropolises to the Giacatello hypogeum to be discovered with speleologists; from the focus on the Temple of Concordia, to the nocturnal visits in the light of particular “fireflies”. And the now famous theatricalized “dawns” that allow an unprecedented vision of the temples that emerge from the night: on 8 August, “Inventions for three voices”, a sound environment intertwined with the story. From Mozart to Fauré, traditional Georgian and Sardinian songs, up to Bernstein and Britten: protagonists, the Neapolitan singer Marina Bruno (who has worked extensively with Roberto De Simone, Vinicio Capossela and many others), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass) and Daniele Sepe (sax), guest the great trumpeter Flavio Boltro. The following day, August 9th, the concert will accompany visitors at dawn in the archaeological park of Selinunte.

Segesta Park. It debuts on July 1st in the Doric Temple of Segesta, Phos. On July 7th “Texere” opens. On July 26th the Segesta Teatro Festival directed by Claudio Collovà will start between the Ancient Theater and the Temple; among others, Sergio Cammariere, Noa, Frida Bollani Magoni & Albert Eno, Pippo Pollina, Giuseppe Pambieri, Lina Sastri, Viola Graziosi, Gabriele Vacis. In addition to the experiences and guided visits, trekking and a special picnic are proposed.

Selinunte Park. The largest archaeological site in Europe. This summer Selinunte – in addition to guided tours, bicycle excursions, the possibility of reaching the beach below – has also launched an open call directed to companies and artists. Who responded en masse. There is a program in July and August, which will include opera (expected Tosca and Carmen), music, theatre, shows from dusk to dawn. It starts on July 13th with the fourth edition of the Mediterranean jazz of Curva Minore: the Gervasi-Giammarinaro duo; on the 14th, Fera with the return of the flautist Mariasole De Pascali; and on the 17th, the Alkantara MediOrkestra. Among the many events, the Merano Orchestra, Sofia Muscato, Ricky Portera with a tribute to Lucio Dalla; the shows of the Stone Theaters, the meetings of the Beauty Festival. Viaggi e Approdi opens on 21 July, a fascinating tale of the identity of the ancient city in an itinerary that intertwines previously unpublished finds and illustrations created specifically by contemporary artists.

“Salinas” Museum. On summer weekends, the Salinas Museum will often be open until late in the evening. From Friday 28 June “Fuori Orarie” will start in the first cloister, a series of free concerts to attract new audiences.
