MONREALE, 25 June – In the wake of a now ancient family tradition, there is beginning to be footballing glory for the young Alessio Lanza, a promising youngster from Monreale, who won the “Benedetto Piras” trophy with the regional Under 17 team a few days ago in Villasimius, in Sardinia.

Lanza, born in 2008, plays as a right back or central defender and after school football and a brief stint at Palermo football, this year he moved to Athletic Club Palermo, Eccellenza’s team where he played the Junior championship season, despite being three years under age and obtaining second place in the championship.

For him the season even ended with his first team debut in the Eccellenza championship. Now the call to the Sicilian representative team to compete in a prestigious event, which constitutes a precious showcase and win the cup.
Alessio Lanza belongs to a family of athletes. Dad Massimo was a 5-a-side football player, the first captain of Monreale 5-a-side football, his brother Roberto, after a career in the world of 11-a-side football, now plays for Canicattì in the C2 series, while the other brother Matteo played the colors of the youth teams of Empoli and Licata.
