When Satnam started screaming, I ran away, but I saw Soni his wife crying and him without an arm. When the employer, Antonello, who was on a tractor, approached, he started swearing and uttering threats such as ‘You must shut up’.” This is the testimony of Taranjeet Singh, a worker on the agricultural company where last Monday afternoon the Indian laborer Satnam Singh lost an arm and was abandoned in agony in front of the house by the owner of the company.

«I saw everything and started telling them to call the ambulance – says the man – But the employer did nothing, he went towards the van and loaded Satnam, his wife and his arm. I thought he was taking him to the hospital. I didn’t think he would leave it at the gate. At a certain point he said that Satnam was dead, and that help could not come.”
«Ever since this thing happened I can’t sleep, and I can’t get out of this nightmare – says the thirty-year-old -. I tell Soni to hold on: the community is with her. When I started working, the employer was a good, serious person who would pick me up and take me to work when it started to rain. Since the accident, however, he has not been heard from again. I’ve been working there for a year, a year and a half, and I earn 5.50 euros an hour, I’m irregular. Now I’ve lost my job and after what happened in Satnam no one lets anyone who doesn’t have documents work anymore.”
