Milan, 25 June 2024 – The suspicion of a wide-ranging ring of fraudulent contracts for the supply of electricity and gas services, with international implications on the Italy-Albania axis. This, as far as we have been able to know up to now, is the heart of an investigation coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Officewhich is having its first culminating moment today, Tuesday 25 June.
They are in fact underway searches in various provinces of Italy and in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Postal police officers are analyzing and seizing paper material from various companies and individuals, and are sifting through computers and servers. The name given to the operation is “Energy Switch”: the objective of the investigators is to combat fraud in contracts for the supply of electricity and gas.
In the operation I am mobilize dozens of agents and vehicles of the various Italian sections of the postal police. Further news regarding the results of the investigation are expected in the morning, although they are already promising to be important with a view to protecting the market and consumerswhich has been grappling for some time with a series of apparently very advantageous offers in the service provision sector.
