MACERATA All ready for the second edition of FantaMacerata, an imaginary festival that will be held in Piazza Mazzini next Saturday and Sunday. The event, promoted by the Department of Economic Development and curated by the cultural association Cosmica, is organized by the Municipality of Macerata, in collaboration with Guardia di Finanza, Unimc, Confartigianato Imprese Macerata, Alperia, Ircr Macerata, Amanuartes association and Pro loco of Macerata and is sponsored by the Marche Region, the Province of Macerata and Unimc.
The transformation
The city is preparing to transform itself into the living room of the imagination, in the name of comics, games, music, cinema, science fiction, horror, cosplayers, stands, themed entertainment, workshops for children, shows and talks. The second edition of FantaMacerata was presented at a conference yesterday by the municipal councilor for Productive Activities Laura Laviano and the president of the Cosmica association Edilio Venanzoni, with contributions from the councilors for Events, Riccardo Sacchi, and for Youth Policies, Marco Caldarelli , by the professor of Information Processing Systems at Unimc, Emanuele Frontoni, and, connected from Ancona, by the regional councilor for Culture, Chiara Biondi. «This is a new festival for Macerata – explains councilor Laviano –, which does not want to be the same as those held in other cities, but wants to be placed between Lucca Comics and the Nerd Show in Bologna. It wants to be typical, particular, unique. It is, among other things, a festival closely linked to productive activities and we chose to do it in Piazza Mazzini, because it is the living square of Macerata. The administration’s objective is to create events that can attract an audience of all ages and as varied as possible: this is, without a doubt, the winning formula of FantaMacerata, a completely free event that will host guests of the highest level in the city.”
The program
The president of Cosmica, Edilio Venanzoni, before reeling off the rich program, gives some more information: «FantaMacerata is supported and supports the production activities, given that many traders in Corso Cairoli and Piazza Mazzini have supported the project with great enthusiasm and collaboration , so much so that we rejected dozens of requests from those who wanted to come from outside to set up food stands, so as to favor local venues. Ours is a festival that stands out from comics events, because we are the festival of the imagination.” As for some highlights of the program, Venanzoni underlines: «They will be two memorable days for everyone, from children to adults, in a kaleidoscope of initiatives from early afternoon to late evening, between comic artists, such as Giuseppe Palumbo and Carmine Di Giandomenico, masters of cinema, like Luigi Cozzi, and the highlight of the evening concerts of Goblin by Claudio Simonetti and the legendary Alberto Camerini. To then end on a high note with the night event organized by the ScuolaZoo kids, which will see many young people dancing in an atmosphere of healthy fun.”
Among the protagonists of this edition there will also be the Guardia di Finanza, which is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its foundation, which will be present with an operational demonstration of a dog unit, under the Civitanova company, with the German shepherd Edir, who will, with his trainer, two demonstrations, Saturday at 5.30pm and Sunday at 6pm. FantaMacerata will start on Friday 28 June, at 9.30pm, at the Cinema museum, with the preview featuring Silvia Riccò as a guest, for a journey of discovery of splatter cinema from its origins to the present day.
As for the program of the two days, Saturday and Sunday, at 4pm there will be the opening of the exhibitors’ stands with Manga-themed workshops for children, play area and artist alley. Among the many guests who will participate in the talks, noteworthy are Carmine Di Giandomenico (Saturday, 6 pm), superstar illustrator of DC Comics, Luigi Cozzi (Saturday, 9.15 pm), film director and screenwriter, historic collaborator of Dario Argento, Giuseppe Palumbo (Sunday, 6.30 pm), historic designer of Diabolik and Martin Mystere, who will present his “Texone”, the Tex album.
