Four victims at work in one week in Lazio. A dramatic toll that also includes the death of Satnam Singh, the Indian laborer abandoned on the street without an arm, severed by a machine without being helped and then died in hospital, and that of Valerio Salvatore, the 29-year-old who lost his life in Campoleone after having fallen due to the collapse of the roof of the warehouse on which he was carrying out work.

They are also joined by another agricultural worker seriously injured in Cisterna after a short circuit caused the thresher he was working on to catch fire. And in the last few hours there has been a new intervention by CGIL of Rome and Lazio, CGIL of Frosinone and Latina and CGIL of Rome South Pomezia Castelli.

“Against this trail of blood – reads a note from the union – we ask the Lazio Region to accelerate the actions already shared during the last meeting with the organizations and to all the prefects to immediately activate the inspection task forces to ensure that the rules on the protection of health and safety in the workplace, starting from the sectors where the most accidents occur”.

Just this week in the Region, after the death of Satnam Singh, there was an important meeting with the trade unions, before yesterday’s mobilization in the Pontine capital. “Saturday’s large demonstration in Latina demonstrates how much attention there is on the part of people and the world of work on health and safety. We ask ourselves what else needs to happen for the Government to concretely intervene”, conclude CGIL of Rome and Lazio, CGIL of Frosinone and Latina and CGIL of Rome South Pomezia Castelli.
