On social media, the Blue Bloods actors shared their memories and celebrated the end of the adventure on the set of the CBS series.

Goodbyes are always difficult to accept and sometimes it’s better to share your feelings with your fans. So they did Donnie Wahlberg and the other cast members of Blue Bloods who returned to the set for the last time to conclude the filming of season 14, the final one. The first 10 episodes aired from February to May, while the last eight will arrive this autumn on the American CBS. The last day of filming on the set of the family drama was emotional for everyone, despite the recent rumors that talk about a probable spin-off sequel which could move the story forward. Here you are the messages that the stars have shared on social media.

Blue Bloods: Farewell messages from the cast

“The last day of Blue Bloods“, began in an Instagram post Donnie Wahlberg who played Danny Reagan from day one. “I’m not sure I have the words to describe how I feel today, or for the last 14 years on this special journey of Blue Bloods, but I know how incredibly grateful I am for every moment. To the cast, to the crew, to the guest cast, to every supporting actor, writer, producer and every member of every single department – thank you,” he continued. “To the people of New York, in every borough and borough, thank you for having always showed your love. To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope I have made you proud. Finally, to my fans and the fans of this show. We can’t last 14 days (never mind 14 years) without you! Your love and support for this show has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Thank you,” he concluded.

Even Wahlberg’s colleague, Marisa Ramirez (who has played Maria Baez since the third season), wanted to entrust a memory to Instagram. “I still don’t have the words to express my joy or sadness, but at least I have a homemade sticky shield from Violet to replace the one I had to return to the props today. The sweetest….” (The reference is to the design of the badge that her daughter gave her, which you see in the photo below).

In the end Vanessa Raywho played Eddie Janko Reagan for 11 seasons, shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her, Wahlberg and Ramirez embracing on set, accompanied by the words “last day feelings” and “I love them so much it hurts.”

A goodbye that no one likes?

Last November CBS announced that Blue Bloods, one of his most followed series, would have ended with season 14. Even then Tom Selleck and other cast members had not taken it well and had pressured for the series to continue. “CBS is going to find that a lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to her,” the star told TV Insider. “The series is more popular than ever and I think this year [i numeri] will increase with interest. We are certainly not short of ideas.” However, the president of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach she remained firm on her decision: “We love this cast, we love their passion for the series. All shows must end. It is important for us to update the programming. We will conclude the series in December”, she said.

In recent weeks, however, at the annual shareholders meeting, the co-CEO of Paramount Global Brian Robbins has hinted that a spin-off of Blue Bloods would be in the works. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it could happen that once again the pressure from the fans and the cast succeeds in changing the minds of the leaders of the network and the studio. We’ll see.
