A Quiet Place IIwith A Quiet Place – Day 1 we are finally about to find out how the world has “been silenced.” The prequel will in fact tell the story of the sudden apocalypse on a global scale.

He is always at the helm of history

John Krasinski who, after having written and directed (in the first case also interpreted) the first two chapters, imagined the story of Day 1 for some time, before sitting down to write it. After numerous delays, partly caused by last year’s strikes, the film is ready for release in theaters where we will see it thanks to Eagle Pictures starting June 27th.

A Quiet Place – Day 1, the plot

As per the tradition of the series, the plot of A Quiet Place – Day 1 it’s quite simple: in this way we avoid the specter of an intricate and needlessly convoluted plot, too often the main obstacle for science fiction films that get lost behind the traps of the plot.

Although the film works on a larger scale than its predecessors, especially given the setting in New York City, it was set up as an apocalyptic survival movie with horror and thriller elements. Something that had already made the fortune of the first two films and which in this case will be seasoned with greater emphasis on the part relating to the alien invasion, which we will probably see at the beginning.

A new setting

The change of setting, however, allows a series of possibilities that were previously precluded to the franchise, such as the possibility of witnessing large-scale action scenes and the possibility of seeing the protagonists interact with an extended and urban setting, bringing everything into play a series of new possibilities for the construction of scenes.

Already in the first film we knew that the villains of the story are aliens and in the second film we learned that they literally fell from space. This prequel will take us to that day of the invasion and will tell us whether this was an accident or whether it was planned, and therefore we will encounter the classic science fiction topos in which aliens plan to invade the Earth.

What we can already expect is that the invasion was immediately a success from the aliens’ point of view: we know that they are ultra sensitive to noises, that they are very loud and fast and above all that humans were not ready to face such an enemy. We also imagine that, unlike historical films of the genre, in which the United States seemed the most tempting place on Earth to plan an invasion, in Day 1 the attack will take place across the entirety of the Earth’s surface.

As for the plot of
A Quiet Place – Day 1 therefore, we can say that it is a simple story, which is enriched, as in the case of previous films, by a very valid cast of performers.

The protagonist is the Oscar winner

Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) who plays Sam and is joined by Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things and the next one Fantastic Four of Marvel) as Eric,
Alex Wolff (Oppenheimer) appears as Reuben and
Djimon Hounsou (Rebel Moon) who will play the role of the kind-hearted character who already appeared in the second chapter, “the man on the island” who helps a small group of survivors.

This means he will definitely make it out of this prequel alive. “It was very nice to have him with us to carry on the legacy of the project” he has declared

Who made it A Quiet Place – Day 1?

As for the creative cast, we’ve already said that
John Krasinski he signed the screenplay, while he handed over the direction to Michael Sarnoski (Pig) who came to the project to replace Jeff Nichols
(Midnight Special) who had also abandoned the film due to creative differences. After his arrival, Sarnoski helped rewrite the story and characters alongside Krasinski. In addition to his contribution to the writing, the director also brought the director of photography with him to the film, Pat Scolawith whom he had already worked in Pig.
