SASSUOLO (Modena) – Marco Bortolotti, 33 years old from Reggiolo, number 120 in the world in doubles, together with the Australian Matthew Christopher Romios won the doubles tournament of the Emilia-Romagna Tennis Cup, overcoming the American pair Seggerman/Thrac at the end of a long match with the score of 7-6 2-6 and 11-9 in the decisive super tie break. It is the first time an Italian has played on the fields of the Sporting Club Sassuolo in the three editions of the tournament
For the Italian-Australian couple, fresh from a week of victories, the best prelude for a second part of the season to be played with the aim of achieving the ranking for the qualifications for the last slam of the season, the US Open.
“It was a perfect week – says Bortolotti – We raised the level day after day, playing very tough matches. I have to thank Matthew first of all, my staff, my family who came today. A beautiful week that I hope is a prelude to a second part of the season that is luckier than the first. The goal is to get to play a slam, to do so I will have to enter the top 100 in the world, an objective that is within reach also in light of this victory.”
In the men’s singles of the ATP Challenger 125, organized by Master Group Sport in collaboration with the Region, the victory went to the young Dutchman De Jong, who beat the German Daniel Altmaier in the final with a score of 76 61.
