VERMILION. A young man is the victim of the tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of today’s morning – Saturday 22 June – along the North Face of Presanella.

The call to the Single Emergency Number came from the companion who was with him: the latter, born in 1988 originally from Verona, he was transported in code red, with multiple traumas, to the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento. His condition is described as serious but his life is not in danger.

The two climbers, who had left their car, parked it at the Pozzi Alti car park, above the town of Vermiglio, at around 1,880 meters above sea level, they were traveling along the Faustinelli mountaineering route, a very demanding and steep route that leads to the summit of Presanella, located at an altitude of 3,558 metres.

The exact dynamics of what happened is still to be clarified: what is certain is that the two, who were proceeding in a roped party, fell several meters between 6.30 and 7.

The air ambulance immediately reached the target, at around 3 thousand meters above sea level the air rescue technician and the medical team were winched, who could not help but confirm the young man’s death. The body was recovered by a second helicopter after the authorization granted by the authorities.

The first aircraft, however, took care of the transport to the Santa Chiara hospital of the second injured mountaineer who, at the time of recovery, was in a semi-unconscious state.
