The Ferrari Purosangue wins the Compasso d’Oro

Important recognition for Ferrari Purosangueawarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, awarded by the ADI (Association for Industrial Design). This very important award honors the excellence of industrial design works.

The satisfaction of the men of the “prancing horse” for the important recognition, which ended in Maranello for the fourth time, is understandable. In the past, the F12 berlinetta (2014), FXX K (2016) and Monza SP1 (2016) models had received it. Now it’s the turn of the brand’s first four-door car, as well as the first SUV (or FUV, if you prefer) designed by him.

The trophy award ceremony took place in Milan, in the presence of Flavio Manzoni, head of the interior style center of the Emilian house. The design of the model is his. The Compasso d’Oro is awarded every two years. The choice of winning products comes from a careful evaluation process involving highly regarded specialists. In 2024 the honors of glory went to the Ferrari Purosangue, with the following motivation:

This car is a concentration of technology combined with courageous typological innovation, which goes beyond the conventional categories of grand tourers; it is an element of concrete innovation in a sector that is mature in the face of global competition.

Ferrari Purosangue: a “red” far from the norm

The Ferrari Purosangue combines comfort and performance with an innovative design, which immediately wins the approval of the eyes, even if it is not one classic “red”., like those who created the myth. It stands out markedly from them, especially due to the raised passenger compartment. It is certainly a disruptive vehicle and not the favorite choice of the most romantic Ferrari drivers, even if the dynamic aspects are of the highest level, thanks also to a very balanced weight distribution.

The connection with the noblest history is created by V12 engine with 6.5 liters of displacement and 725 horsepower, which sounds like an orchestra, giving a formidable thrust. This heart, arranged in a rearward front position, with gearbox at the rear (according to the transaxle layout), is a true engineering jewel. It guarantees extraordinary performance: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 10.6 seconds, over 310 km/h top speed.

The Ferrari Purosangue is not the “red” to which we were accustomed and has a different identity from the Emilian works that wrote the legend, but its shapes are still impeccable and engaging, even if expressed in a different register and in some ways blasphemous.

Between SUVs is at the top, but it is difficult to associate the “prancing horse” with this type of vehicle. The fact remains that Flavio Manzoni, in drawing his features, gave the best of his creative streak. Harmony reigns supreme in his look, muscular and elegant. Undoubtedly the Ferrari Purosangue is a beautiful car, but that “prancing horse” makes old-fashioned enthusiasts who accompanied the birth and development of the myth suffer.
