BRONTE – The attention of the Provincial Command remains high Catania Carabinieri for the protection of food safety and public and private health.
In recent days, the soldiers of the Company of Randazzoin collaboration with the Carabinieri of the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit of Catania (NAS), they have the owner of a business in Bronte was sanctioned for some violations in the sanitation sector.
During the inspection activity, the Carabinieri checked a Cafe located in the city center which used a non-compliant warehouse as a food warehouse. In particular, inside a room adjacent to the bar, the military found disused and dusty material, set aside next to bags of flour, chopped pistachios and jars of cream obtained from the so-called “green gold” of dried fruit. These products, usually used for the preparation of ice cream or for filling croissants and brioches, must be stored correctly and equipped with traceability that certifies their origin. However, the owner of the business did not have any invoice for the purchase of the goodswhich also was not kept according to adequate hygiene and health standards.
Upon completion of the inspection, the food products were seized and the owner of the bar was given two administrative fines for a total of 2,500 euros.
