Coop Liguria, the shareholders’ meeting approves the budget

Genoa. It took place on Friday at the Magazzini del Cotone in Genoageneral meeting of Coop members’ delegates of the whole of Liguria, during which the balance of the cooperative.

A precious contribution, that of the members, which thanks to the vote on the budget turns into 136,500 euros donated to the territory. In fact, for five years the cooperative has been encouraging participation in the vote through solidarity with the formula “One vote, one meal“, thus committing to donate a meal to the associations operating in Liguria for each vote expressed by the members.

This year thanks to 27,295 who participated in the vote – one of the highest results ever recorded – the donation will amount to 136,500 euros. The sum will be divided into two strands: 70,000 eurosequal to the 2023 donation, will be distributed to seventy associations with which Coop Liguria collaborates continuously in the various territories with the Buon Fine and Dona la Spesa projects and which work to support families in difficulty. The remaining amount will instead be used for finance specific projects on the theme of the fight against poverty presented by the associations themselves, which will be chosen by the cooperative and then voted on by the members.

Also on the occasion of the meeting, Coop Liguria delivered two more donations to projects that it has decided to support: 20,400 euros to Gaslininsieme And 19,600 euros, together with Genoa, to Ricibo. The first is linked to the collection of Genoa and Sampdoria stickers, which took place in the sales points between February and May, thanks to the partnership with the two city teams: Coop Liguria chose to donate 10 cents to the Gaslininsieme Foundation for each package, blister or sticker album sold. The 20,400 euros raised will be used to finance the project “Epilepsy surgery“, aimed at young patients whose epilepsy cannot be treated with drugs alone.

Again thanks to the collaboration on the sticker project, Coop Liguria has joined the solidarity initiative “Period and a…help” of Genoa Cfc, with which the club has engaged to donate 200 euros to the Ricibo network for each point won in the championship, providing a donation of the same amount. Thanks to 49 points won by Genoatherefore, the overall donation was 19,600 euros (half donated by Genoa and half by Coop Liguria), used to support the work carried out by the network in support of dozens of associations involved in the fight against poverty.

“We never forget that we are a cooperative whose mission is to generate value in the territory – explained the president of Coop Liguria, Roberto Pittalis – For this reason, five years ago now, we coined the formula ‘One vote, one meal’, which has had extraordinary success, managing to constantly increase members’ participation in voting, up to this year’s unprecedented result. Again to be consistent with our social mission, we also wanted to attribute a value of solidarity to a recreational activity such as the sale of stickers, choosing to donate the donation to Gaslini, because we know the fundamental work it carries out in the field of pediatric care and because it is a Ligurian excellence known throughout Europe. With Ricibo, however, we have been collaborating for a very long time as part of the ‘Buon Fine’ project, with which we continuously donate products with damaged packaging or those close to expiry to our stores. For this reason, when we learned that the Genoa supported the network, we also chose to join their project.”

At the end of 2023 there were 401,692 Coop Liguria members, of which 85,719 lenders, which means one Ligurian in four who, as a member, can benefit from dedicated discounts, agreements and interest on social loan deposits. Furthermore, over the last year, thanks to initiatives to contain inflation, Coop – which also closed its balance sheet this year with a profit of 10 million euros – recorded 74 million euros in savings for members and customers. In fact, in 2023 it absorbed part of the increases requested by producers, only partially passing them on to sales prices, and from October it joined the anti-inflation quarter, lowering the price of 200 Coop products and blocking the price of another 1,000 products for three months .
