EcoTyre Consortium: over 1 million kg of end-of-life tires collected in Liguria

The new EcoTyre 2024 annual report has been presented, with all data on end-of-life tires (ELTs) collected in 2023.

In Liguria the Consortium has collected 1,073,170 kg of tires with 434 withdrawalshaving thus achieved the expected objectives this year too.

Through the Aci network, of which EcoTyre has been a partner for years and carries out dedicated collection activities at the car dismantlersthe Liguria region managed 69,140 kg of ELTs.

On the Consortium website, it is possible to have in real time all the information on the monthly collection data of Liguria and all the other regions: there are constantly updated tables and graphs to verify the trend of collections according to the parameters of the geographical area, the type of ELT and the tire dealers served.

But above all trying to maintain a balance between the efficiency of the widespread service, the adoption of cutting-edge sustainability solutions and the maintenance of adequate environmental eco-contributions”, concludes Ambrogio.

In addition to ordinary activities, thanks to the “Zero ELT” campaign, EcoTyre carries out events extraordinary collection of tires dispersed in the environment, in collaboration with associations and volunteers. In over ten years, 338 special interventions have been carried out throughout Italy, also accompanied by communication and awareness-raising activities to combat waste abandonment and enhance the correct supply chain.

At a national level, a total of 40,541,722 kg of ELTs were managed, through 17,564 collections with an average weight of 2,308 kg each. All regions exceeded the annual collection target set by law, with an overall increase in collection points of 2 thousand units.

ELT management is supported by 96 EcoTyre partners, selected on the basis of sustainability criteria, with a preference for local companies and plants.

THEthe “From rubber to rubber” project

EcoTyre is the first company to have set itself the ambitious goal of complete the rubber circularity cycle, that is, to make it possible to use rubber directly deriving from ELTs for the production of tires and other rubber products such as pipes, gaskets, bitumen and other objects. With this project, various applications have been created demonstrating the economic and technological sustainability of the project.

1.5 million km of road were covered to carry out the tests and between 2024 and 2028 the diffusion of these products throughout the EcoTyre fleet and promotion throughout the rubber supply chain are expected.
