VARESE – The face is tested but determined. Lavinia Limido she still bears the marks of the terrible attack she suffered (“Look how I am”) by her ex-husband, Marco Manfrinati. On the afternoon of May 5th, her former lawyer attacked her and stabbed her, scarring her and then killed, with the same blade, her father-in-law who intervened to save her daughter.

After a long hospitalization, Lavinia finally returned home and spoke about the attack with the newspaper “La Prealpina”.
“I’m definitely getting better and better, because physically, I’m slowly recovering. But I’m sick”, the 37-year-old begins to tell. “The shape of my face doesn’t help me speak normally, I have the collar which is quite annoying, but I must say that every day I take a step towards normality, so I’m getting better and better”. However, a different matter the emotional side: “Inner wounds take much longer to absorb.”
Then the story of relationship with ex-husband in the two years preceding the attack, in which Lavinia was “ran away” from home to avoid the ex’s harassment: “The attack came two years after the moment I ran away. I didn’t leave. I ran away from the house I was staying in with my husband and our son. They have been two very intense years even in negative terms, in the sense that this has been a announced and predictable epilogue of what happened especially in the two years preceding this event. Two years in which every day something happened. From canceled routes to threats. TO veiled threats, A less veiled threats. A nightmare also and above all for the physical safety of all of us: me, my son and my family of origin. This is a tragedy foretold, it could certainly have been avoided. Marco himself, a year ago, said in a phone call ‘Before the summer some of you will end up in intensive care or in the cemetery‘. She said it and it happened, we knew it. It was only a matter of time.”
Then the judgment on the ex: “Marco is a bad man. She proved it with the facts and with what he said at the time of his arrest (“how is your husband?”, addressed to Lavinia’s mother after having stabbed him to death, ed.).
However, the attack will not make Lavinia lose hope: “He won’t be the one to make my life go sideways. He won’t be the one to make me have contempt for men, for people.” Also because in a tragic story like this, the heroic gesture of his father cannot be overlooked, died to save his daughter: “It proves that there are beautiful, good human beings who would give their lives for you. It saved my life and consequently it saved my son too.
