The first Zattini bis municipal council will be held in the sports hall in via Sapinia, in the heart of the Romiti district. A symbolic place of the flooded city, a point of reference in those tragic days at the end of May for families and volunteers, law enforcement and civil protection, a center for the collection and distribution of basic necessities and food for the most vulnerable.
“The neighborhood committees are the sentinels of the territory, an additional tool to better administer the city – declares the coordinator of the Romiti district, Stefano Valmori, who asked for a meeting with the mayor of Forlì Gian Luca Zattini -. The convocation of the first municipal council in the Romiti represents an important signal for the restart, a nice gesture and a concrete example of closeness to the flooded community of the Romiti, but not only. Now we must continue to pay attention to the safety of the territory, the rivers and the maintenance of the banks. We expect the Region to ground the special plans and accelerate the reconstruction of the hydrographic network. The other priority is refunds; the money is there and is coming but the methods for uploading applications to the Sphinx platform must be speeded up. The flood demonstrated the value of cooperation and the centrality of neighborhood committees in land management”.
“The city will never forget the flood victims – declares the mayor of Forlì Gian Luca Zattini -. The choice to convene the first municipal council of this new legislature in the Romiti is proof of this, a symbolic but powerful gesture. The election campaign is over. What the city asks of us for the next few years is compactness and a sense of responsibility. Epochal challenges await us that we can only overcome by working as a team. In this journey, the neighborhoods remain our first interlocutors, the most important point of failure of this administration’s policies and projects. During the flood, they represented the fixed point from which to start again, an extraordinary resource made up of women and men serving the community and the rescue network from all over Italy. The Romiti and Stefano Valmori are proof of this”.
