He has been arrested Franco Lee, the “centralized mobile bank”, as the influencer defined himself in an interview on social media on the occasion of the Blockchain Week in Rome. He got caught up in the huge seizure of cryptocurrenciesespecially Bitcoin, Usdt, Ethereum and Matic, equal to 600 thousand euros. It was the largest seizure carried out by the Carabinieri so far.
The accusations against him of “abusive exercise of financial activities and offering of investment services to the public, and employment in speculative financial services (cryptocurrencies) of utility proceeds of crime, through the purchase of cryptocurrencies and money laundering having taken steps to replace and transfer, with investment in virtual currency, sums of money derived from crime, such as to guarantee anonymity”.
The investigations began in 2023 with the monitoring of the social channels of Instagram and Telegram where the man of Chinese nationality, resident in Frascati, proposed exchanging large sums of cash in exchange for the most popular cryptocurrencies and vice versa, through in-person meetings.
During the technical activities it emerged that Franco Lee, having significant availability of cash, he was able to carry out exchanges of euros in cryptocurrencies even for over 100 thousand euros per single transaction. From here the soldiers of the Cryptocurrency Section of the Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Monetary Command together with those of the Operational Unit of the Carabinieri Roma-Eur Company, executed a dispositive order of personal coercive precautionary measure issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Rome .
