Province-Federalberghi meeting at Palazzo Piloni, public transport for tourism on the table – CafeTV24

Meeting this morning at Piloni Palace between the provincial administration and Federalberghi Belluno Dolomiti. On the table, local public transport, with a focus on the needs of tourist areas. Present were the provincial councilor delegated for transport, Walter De Cassan (president of Federalberghi), Davide Zandonella Necca (member of the Federalberghi board and Confcommercio Ascom Belluno board) and the official Francesco De Toffol.

Federalberghi reported to the Province some critical issues recorded in the last year, in particular due to the public transport routes being cut and the disservices that occurred in some areas of the territory. And he expressed the need to be able to give timely information on the service to customers of the accommodation facilities, who especially in the summer period arrive from abroad and stay for several days in the Belluno Dolomites. «To date, foreign customers exceed 50 percent. These are mostly hikers who travel the high routes, or tourists who stay in our areas. In this sense they are potential users of the public transport service, if this can guarantee punctuality and efficiency” explains Walter De Cassan. «Despite having noticed a restoration of some lines subject to modification in recent years, we have expressed this need to the Province as the governing body of the public transport system, and we will provide a document that collects the main critical issues raised by the territory, but also constructive proposals to create a transport system that is functional to tourist areas, especially during peak periods. We are convinced that with a shared strategy we can achieve various objectives, not least that of sustainability, as well as guaranteeing a truly local-friendly service and not just for tourists.”

«The voice of hoteliers is an important component of the territory and its economy. Therefore we will try to build a dialogue with Dolomitibus to provide answers, where possible” underlines managing director Bortoluzzi. «Starting to think today about transport for tourist areas – without obviously forgetting residents, workers, students – becomes important also from an Olympic and post-Olympic perspective. Today’s meeting is a first preliminary step, but I have already seen the proactive nature of hoteliers, which is a fundamental ingredient for synergistic local work.”
