70 Year Old Cyclist Hit by a Cement Mixer

A tragic road accident occurred today just before 5.30pm in Rho, precisely at the intersection between Corso Europa and via del Maino. A cyclist aged around 70 was hit by a cement mixer, with unfortunately fatal consequences.

The dynamics of the accident and the rescue operations

The local police and the carabinieri of the Rho company took care of the findings and the initial investigations into the dynamics of what happened. The 112 operations center sent them to the scene, together with an SOS ambulance from Novate, a 118 helicopter and a medical vehicle, after receiving a call at 5.26pm, immediately classified as a code red. The man, a 70-year-old cyclist, had been hit by the concrete mixer and there was little hope of saving him.

Unfortunately, despite the timely intervention of the emergency services, the doctors were unable to do anything other than confirm the death of the elderly man on the spot. The driver of the concrete mixer, a 42-year-old man, appeared to be in shock at the incident and in need of medical checks and was transported by ambulance to the emergency room of the Rho hospital, in code green.
