The Supreme Court ruling

Alessandra Canale, born Alessandra Pimpinella, will receive compensation of 45 thousand euros from Rai. The presenter won the legal battle, which ended with the rejection of the appeal presented by state TV against the 2022 ruling which defined her assignment to other duties as “illegitimate”.

Alessandra Canale’s battle against Rai

The case in Rai dates back to September 20, 2002 when the presenter announced on TV that she had been demoted. Alessandra Canale, in tears, communicated to the public exclusion from the network, greeting the spectators by saying: “I love everyone.” In the long legal battle, a first victory came in 2010. In that year the Supreme Court ruled that Rai should have given her back the role of announcer. It remains to be clarified for the lawyers whether those held from 2013 onwards were actually announcing posts or marginal tasks.
