» The Citizens’ Rights Defense Committee requests a meeting with Mayor D’Alberto regarding the municipal antenna plan

“We hope to find a solution to protect the health of citizens”

With a note from President Andrea Modesti, the Citizens’ Rights Defense Committee turned to Mayor Gianguido D’Alberto asking for timely intervention in the field of electromagnetic emissions.

The committee, in particular, asks the First Citizen, especially in light of the recent legislative reforms which have raised the maximum emission limits of electromagnetic fields from 6 to 15 V/m, a moratorium on all installation or upgrading interventions on infrastructure of mobile telephony in the city area.

Furthermore, the representatives of the committee itself have put forward the proposal of a meeting with the municipal administration of Teramo, in order to set up a discussion relating to the adoption or adaptation of a municipal antenna plan.

“Many citizens are worried”, clarifies the note, “with regard to the proliferation of mobile telephone antennas in the area, even in heavily populated areas (remember the recent case of Putignano)”.

We ask nothing more than an intervention to protect public health, by virtue of a correct exercise of the precautionary principle, also due to the lack of clear and unambiguous determinations by official institutes (ISS and WHO) relating to the incidence of electromagnetic waves on the environment and human health.

“We hope to soon have a discussion with the mayor in order to find a solution that is able to rationalize the presence of the antennas in the Teramo area while guaranteeing health protection”.
