Fincantieri president Claudio Graziano has died. He committed suicide with a gunshot, after leaving a note. Graziano died in his home in Rome, the same one where he had lived with his wife, Maria Luisa Lanucara who passed away a few months ago. A death, says those who knew the couple, which had profoundly changed the life of the president of Fincantieri. The couple had no children. Investigations into Graziano’s death are entrusted to the Carabinieri and the most popular hypothesis remains that of suicide. It is not yet clear when the funeral will be celebrated, but it seems certain that the Army will take care of the ceremony.
Graziano’s body was found on the bed, at 9.50 am, by a policeman from his escort who had the second key to the apartment located in the historic center of Rome. Born in 1953, at the top of the shipbuilding giant since 2022, Graziano came from the military world, from studies at the Modena Academy to holding the position of Chief of Defense Staff from 2015 to 2018. The news of the death impacts the stock which reacts with a dive into the red, below 5 euros and down by more than 3 percent.

Fincantieri “expresses immense sorrow for the sudden passing of General Claudio Graziano, President of the Group, which leaves a large and unbridgeable void”. In a note from the group it is underlined that “the CEO and general manager Pierroberto Folgiero, the Board of Directors, the Board of Statutory Auditors, the managers and all the employees of Fincantieri remember with emotion the extraordinary human and professional qualities that he has given him always distinguished in his long career”.
