From September, Milan fashion week gains an extra day

After almost a year of negotiations, Milan fashion week gets one more day. The next Milanese fashion week, in fact, is scheduled for 17 to 23 September 2024, with Fendi as a forerunner on the first day, at 3pm.

The one to give the communication is National Chamber of Italian Fashion (Cnmi) who collaborated, we read in the note issued by the institution, together with British Fashion Council (Bfc), to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (Cfda), and with the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (Fhcm) to the redefinition of the dates of the next fashion weeks starting from September 2024 and for 2025 for the four main fashion capitals: New York, London, Milan and Paris.

To “avoid overlaps and create synchrony in the international fashion calendar”, the four associations met to establish agreements on the start and end dates of each event. The decision aims to “favor the specialized public who travels between the cities and brands on the calendar”.

“I am very satisfied with the work carried out with great synergy between the four main fashion players – he commented Carlo Capasa, president of CNMI -. This agreement with the other associations allows Milan to have an extra day for fashion shows, in line with the needs of our brands and the fashion community which has long requested an extension of the Milan fashion week based on its over 200 scheduled appointments. I thank the BFC, the CFDA and the FHCM for the sensitivity shown in drafting the calendars and the maison Fendi which for the September 2024 edition will kick off the fashion week with the first fashion show scheduled for Tuesday 17 September”.

Already last SeptemberIn fact, Capasa had underlined the need for the Milanese event to gain another day at the beginning of the week, to cope with a very busy calendar, and the need to make changes in concert with other international fashion bodies.

Cnmi also announced the dates of the 2025 fashion weeks. The men’s collections will be on show from 17 to 21 January 2025 and from 20 to 24 June while the women’s collections will be on show from 25 February to 3 March and then from 23 to 29 September.
